R A Y N E, born on April 23rd, 1998, developed a passion for music and theater at a young age. His love for performing was ignited when he starred in his pre-school’s production of “Grease.” Throughout school, he excelled in various activities and received recognition for his achievements. At 11, he joined the Tshwane Youth Theatre but soon focused more on music than theater.
Self-taught in piano at 14, R A Y N E’s dedication paid off when he won awards in the Barnyard Theatre’s talent competition at 15. He performed at venues, open mic nights, and secured a contract with the Barnyard Theatre, where he impressed audiences for two years. R A Y N E held a successful solo show in 2015 and opened for the Parlotones. His talent and musical prowess were praised by both audiences and established South African artists.
Building a strong reputation, R A Y N E consistently performed at the Barnyard Theatre and expanded internationally. In 2019, he toured Mauritius and Zambia, while also participating in the Alberton Day Music Festival. Choosing to pursue his solo career, he released his debut single, “Laat Dit Reën,” in November 2020, which reached number one on two charts and achieved Top 10 rankings on others.
